FAQ

To choose the appropriate heat shrink tubing size, you should follow the 80/20 rule. This means that the selected tubing must be able to shrink at least 20% more than the diameter of the cable or component you are covering.

1      Measure the object's diameter: Identify the widest part the tubing must pass over and the narrowest part it needs to grip.

2      Check the Shrink Ratio: If you use tubing with a 2:1 ratio, it will reduce its size by half. If the object measures 5 mm, a 6 mm tubing with a 2:1 ratio will be insufficient because its final size (3 mm) is very close to the target; in this case, a 3:1 ratio is better.

3      Consider the length: Keep in mind that the tubing also shrinks slightly in length (between 5% and 10%) when heat is applied.
