Although our grates feature an enameled cast iron coating that protects them from rust, proper maintenance is key. For daily cleaning, wait for the grate to cool and wash it with warm water and mild soap using a non-abrasive sponge. Dry it thoroughly immediately. Unlike raw cast iron, the enameled finish does not require the traditional "seasoning" process with baked-in oil, but applying a very thin layer of vegetable oil after cleaning can help maintain the shine and provide an additional protective barrier.
